Staying Fit for the New Year

There is no need to do any research to know that getting fit is among the top ten New Years resolutions for, well everyone! January is the month when we’re ready to go! Our enthusiasm is off the charts. You will find us at the gym, following a daily routine. You will see us sipping green detox detox smoothies every morning. Then comes March, where are we? In the roller coaster of our resolutions March is the beginning of our decline in momentum. Making a resolution is the easy part, it’s sticking to it that’s the hard part.

Accountability is a major part of keeping the fitness resolution alive. Make your resolution with friends or family. This way you can help each other, when one is down, you can help each other up. Or kick each other’s butts when you get too lazy. This even encourages a little healthy competition!

I know for a fact that motivation can be lost easier than your car keys. One way to stay motivated is to create a vision board, Pinterest is a great place to find motivational images and quotes. Printing these and placing them in a constantly visible place will keep your eyes on the prize. Keeping things fresh, exciting and fun is the best way to keep it up. Believe it or not there are fun ways to get fit! Rollerblading, skateboarding, bike riding, stand up paddle boarding or even hiking with friends. Take dance classes or join a fitness group. You’ll be having fun and getting fit along the way, it’s also a great way to meet new people!

Keeping these tips and tricks in mind, you must never forget that it’s all up to you. You should value the decisions that you make about your own body and in turn your life. Ultimately an understanding that these decisions you make affect your life for the better will ensure that these goals you have set will be completed. Just remember that being healthy is a lifestyle choice, it’s a journey and there will always be ups and downs in any journeys. Just don’t let the downs get you down. Have fun getting healthy and keeping motivated!
