In case you were wondering where I’ve been for the past month or so, here’s a little update! Leaning towards the end of the semester is when I began to realise how much I had to get done. It’s not as though these were difficult insurmountable tasks! I wanted to make sure that I finished all of my assignments with excellence, or at least the best that I could which I did! It also just so happened that I’d been commissioned to make two dresses for a Prom, as well as my own which instantly made me twice as busy as usual. But with all my assignments out of the way and one day to prom I am ready to smash this. Which brings me to my next point!
I, or we, have this tendency to underestimate our abilities. We never really know how much we can handle until we have it laid on us! If you asked me at the beginning of the year if I could make three prom dresses I would be immediately said no. A month ago, someone asked me to make them a dress and I said yes without thinking and immediately regretted it. Truth be told I had no idea what to do. The funny thing is, I just started cutting and sewing and eventually it all started to come together. Sometimes you just have to say yes, how are you supposed to know what you can or cannot do unless you’ve actually tried it! This little experience has taught me to have more confidence in my capabilities and not to underestimate my capacity! You’re about to see a lot more from this end. Especially because I am officially on semester break!
