Chokers have come and gone in the fashion world and each time they have resembled something different. Historically they were worn by upper class women in the 19th century and ballerinas. That being said, they are also associated with questionable occupations. Derived from French high fashion in the 1700s and made popular in the 1990s they have made a recent comeback!
Personally I love the choker trend because it elongates the neck and accentuates a feature most commonly overlooked. I recently went shopping for chokers and discovered that they can cost you anywhere between $10 to $20! Now, being a fashion student I know for a fact that there is a way cheaper option! And I found it! For less than a $1 per meter you can find ribbon and velvet strips at your local crafts or fabric store and all you need to do is tie it around your neck.
You can customise your choker with sequins or pearls, I prefer plain chockers and I paired this dusty pink ribbon with a white off the shoulder dress!
